History

Port Neches Elementary was established in the early 1950s and became operational in 1955.  Initially, it had multiple small offices, a cafeteria, and auditorium, and nine classrooms catering grades 1-6.

Post-WWII, Port Neches encountered a local baby boom, prompting expansions to the original building.  It later evolved into a campus for 4th and 5th graders, with the addition of new classrooms and the Learning Resource Center, which is a contemporary library.  In the early 1990s, more classrooms, including a state-of-the-art science lab, were built.

Through a community-supported bond, a new school was constructed, rebranded as Port Neches Intermediate in August 2023, welcoming students from 3rd-5th grade.  Principal Kimberly Carter and Assistant Principal Angela Lewis now lead this newly educational environment.
