Counselor

Hi!  My name is Corrie Zepeda.  I am beginning my fifth year as a school counselor and am excited to be joining the PNI family!  I have been a school counselor at Little Cypress Elementary and Port Acres Elementary and also taught 2nd grade at Hillcrest Elementary and Cathedral Christian School. I attended Lamar University, where I received my Bachelors of Science in Social Work and a Masters in Education for School Counseling.  I have been married to my husband, Sal, for over 20 years and we have three children.  We love to travel, camp and spend time at the lake when we are all together.  My favorite vacation spot is the mountains of Colorado, my favorite show is Dateline, and I enjoy reading when I am not busy with all things being a mom and wife!

As a school counselor, I focus on equipping students with tools and strategies to utilize as they navigate their journey in education and life.  I believe helping the whole student is essential and am a firm believer in Maslow before Blooms ~ Basic, essential needs have to be met before we can expect children to climb the Blooms Taxonomy of learning.

This year I will be meeting with each class twice a six weeks, teaching various social emotional lessons that align with our Character Education used in our Tribe Rally's each grading period.  I will also be starting lunch bunch groups for more focused lessons on various topics.  Please check out my website to get more information about what I'll be doing throughout the year.  If you ever have a concern about your student please fill out the referral form on my website or email me.
